With a top speed of 443 mph and an amazing range of 1,800 miles, these facts are proven by historical footage recorded by special aircraft cameras shown in this documentary film. New innovations such as advanced fighter pilot seats with an armored cockpit, long distance self-sealing drop tanks and a new power boost water injection technology was stock for its powerful supercharged Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine producing 2,600 hp. It was designed and manufactured by Republic Aviation, the P-47 was also one of the fastest single-engine airplanes until the North American P-51 Mustang fighter plane eclipsed it in top speed. While its not the best fighter jet in the world, for an old school airplane, the P-47 Thunderbolt is one of the best planes in history.
